Ad-Olam Classes and Lectures
Tales of the Hasidim - Fall 2009 God Loves Wo/Man Because God Loves Stories This year Ad Olam's class will be focusing on the tales of the Hassidim, with particular emphasis on the founder of modern Hassidism, the Baal Shem Tov and his great grandson, Rebbe Nahman of Bratzlav. In the stories and the music of the people, one discovers the soul of that People, so in addition to our readings and discussions of the tales, we will also be learning the niggunim, the special melodies from that time and place in Europe - before the Shoah - - and from our time as well. While we are emphasizing these two Masters, we will also be partaking of the wellspring of insight and inspiration from Nobel Peace Award winner, Elie Wiesel, in his marvelous work, Souls on Fire: Portraits and Legends of Hassidic Masters. Dates, times, and place to be announced.
